Inspections
VSM ensures the safety and compliance of its vessels through the Ship Inspection Report (SIRE) program, which is managed by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF). This program involves the regular inspection of vessels by trained and qualified inspectors, who assess the vessel’s compliance with industry standards and regulations, as well as the vessel’s safety management systems and performance.
Inspections Every 6 Months
Vessels inspections are typically conducted every 6 months, although they may be more frequent if the vessel has a history of non-compliance or other safety issues. During the inspection, the inspector will review the vessel’s documentation, record-keeping, and safety management systems and procedures, as well as the condition of the hull and machinery and the training and competency of the crew. If the vessel passes the inspection, it will receive a SIRE certificate valid for 6 months. If it fails, it may be required to undergo further assessments or corrective actions before being granted a certificate.
The results of the SIRE inspections are shared with oil major companies, helping to ensure that only vessels that meet required standards are used in their operations and reducing the risk of incidents or accidents involving these vessels.
